I always wonder who is helping Frey & Walz with communication, because I think they could get better advice (or maybe they don't take it?). If you want protesters to remain peaceful, tell them how much it's working. Praise them for doing what they're doing. Instead of saying "Don't be violent," just say "I'm so incredibly proud of how the people of this state are protecting their neighbors. With full voices and whistles and solidarity, you're making it clear ICE isn't wanted or welcome. You are documenting every abuse and every act of violence and hate so that we can hold these people accountable. You are the watchers on the walls and the shield that guards the realms of men." or similar

Yep note #2

Once the police show up. Disband you put another set of eyes on the bully's. Even if they are slightly less dicks they are loyal to their department and hate the feds as much as most protesters.

Wes, thank you for continuing to give your viewpoint and info from the frontlines. It is valuable for those not driving/walking the streets of Midway everyday.

One caution however - please do not become a one issue voter. That is what got us here and does no good for our democracy (or what little is left of it). One issue views stop people from talking about solutions and lump us all into camps of a single viewpoint. Abolish ICE vs abolish Planned Parenthood vs abolish the military vs abolish the Dept of Education vs abolish vaccines vs (a never ending list of things that pissed someone off today). People should have issues that are very important to them, but to vote on one issue only can lead to us ignoring good candidates who are not all in on our one issue and instead picking the idiot who said the right thing a few times on the campaign trail.

Did you listen to The Daily’s interview with the Minneapolis chief of police? It was aired on Monday I believe. It was an excellent interview and I had a better understanding of the tightrope they are walking.
